What to do when not papercrafting:

Yesterday was a day to NOT use my Stampin’ Up stamps and do some paper crafting. Why? Because I was totally frustrated with my paper ornaments…which kept coming unglued at the points, and because I was totally uninspired by anything I had in my craft room while I was waiting for my latest shipment to come in with my Occasions order in it. Not being someone to just wait around for orders to show up, I decided to move along with other projects. After all this is my “…and other such stuff” blog, not particularly just Stampin’ Up. So…not to keep anyone waiting to see what I was doing (since waiting is sooo boring as my sweet little lab, Sophie, keeps telling me), I’ll post the various outcomes of all my little adventures from yesterday, beginning with Sophie’s boredom with all of my activities.

Sophie was so glad when her Daddy (Bobby, my fiance) got home because she could snuggle with him instead of snoozing on the couch alone (because I don’t snooze with her when I’m busy crafting or doing other stuff, of course)!

My first adventure of the day was to make some Red Velvet White Chocolate Chip cookies. Turned out ok, not sure if I’ll make this recipe again or not, but if I do, I’ll definitely need to add more chocolate to the mix.

Then I made my Cracker Candy, which always turns out yummy!

After that, I finished up with some White Trash and a Coconut Cranberry Macaroon.

Both turned out deliciously, even the macaroons, and I don’t like coconut!

Once I finished up the baking, and dinner, I got started on the stained glass work. This is the part that always takes the longest since it is the most meticulous part. I started putting the foil on the beveled pieces so I can finish up some gifts for Christmas. I’m still not sure how I finish this particular one off completely, but a finished project will be posted once Christmas is past and gifts have been exchanged. Surprises are so fun, aren’t they!

There are 20 of these as well as 20 of a 1 inch square piece that still needs to be finished foiling. I also have to cut glass to finish off all the individual items and foil those pieces. Once that is done, there is cleaning, soldering, more cleaning, and then the final polishing for the final product. I will be leaving this project silver (which is the solder color) so no adding any other color to the solder. I think it will take another 2-3 days to finish this project up…and that’s barring any distractions lol.

Oh…and btw, those distractions just may happen as my Occasions order as well as my December Paper Pumpkin kit were BOTH delivered TODAY!! Hmmm…stained glass or distractions…stained glass or distraction…stained glass or distractions…

I’m off for now, time will tell which I will choose, and most likely the stained glass will win. For now, I will be doing more posts after Christmas since I will be busy crafting and making Holiday merry fun until then.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Meow-y Christmas!

I’ve been busy making some Christmas presents, along with a little helper who just couldn’t stay away from my work area most of the time…and I have MOST of those presents finished. I still have some things that need to be done, but rest assured, things will be completed in time for the big day.

Here’s my little helper, Patches, who, with a quick sweep of her tail, kept my desk top free of little scraps, but also brought all those little scraps all over the house. Notice she’s proudly keeping watch over my pile of completed Christmas cards…”no stirring Christmas Mouse will get those cards before Mommy can send them out” is what she’s thinking. LOL

As for those cute little Eskimos I mentioned earlier…they became these sweet keepsakes to hang on a tree (or maybe even a mantle next to someone’s stocking, who knows!).

Those same sweet little Eskimos are in yet another little project, which will be posted later. I can’t give away ALL the gifts, now can I? What would be the fun in THAT? There has to be some surprises after all.

I also made the “gift bow” to top off the presents this year. It is a star ornament made from some of the designer paper found in the Holiday catalog, along with basic pearls, rhinestones, and ribbons. I think they will look sooooo adorable on top of their color coordinating boxes.

Here’s the star ornament beginnings and completed forms:

The stars were made in about 10 minutes, with only 1 6″ x 6″ piece of paper! I made 4 of them from one sheet of designer paper, and in less than an hour!! They are so easy and fun to make, a great idea for kids as well…not to mention a great last minute gift! Just change up the paper to the foil paper to make the star,  add the rhinestones colored with  the alcohol blends markers the paper. and you have just transformed this simple star to something much more elegant. If you still need last minute gift ideas, both these ornaments are quick, inexpensive, thoughtful, and something that can bring memories for years to come.  If you like these ideas and would like to purchase any of the supplies, click the “shop with me” button at the top of my blog.

Year End Sale

Stampin’ Up is retiring some products and putting some products on sale (such as some items in the Holiday catalog), and changing how some products will be sold (for example some bundles will no longer be sold as bundles). Now is the time to take advantage of these sales or to get those great holiday items you fell in love with this season before they are no longer available. I know I’m getting some more Merry Music DSP and some Be Merry DSP because I just love the look of both papers in my holiday crafts this year! I have included the list of current items for you to see, so click the “shop with me” button, sign in, and get your favorite items quickly before the sale is over.

Blog Hop

Country INKers Blog Button Resized

Welcome to my first Blog Hop 🙂

You start here and hop on over to the other pages in the “hop” by clicking on the links below. This month’s theme is Christmas and New Year’s.

For my little addition, I was inspired by a card I saw on the Internet that used the Seasonal Chums and matching Seasonal Tags Framelits set. Knowing that anything with symmetry can be used both front and back, I tried my hand at creating a similar card using the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set and the matching Cookie Cutter Christmas Punch. Here’s what came out:

Blog Hop card

(Don’t mind the clutter in the background…it’s the product of a creative mind lol). To make this card, I also used Real Red, Whisper White and Glimmer Silver card stocks (available in the All Occasions catalog), Be Merry Designer Specialty Paper (Holiday catalog), Silver Metalic Thread (All Occasions catalog), Basic Rhinestones (All Occasions catalog), Snail Adhesive and Fine tip Glue (All Occasions catalog), Window Sheets (All Occasions catalog), Stampin’ Dimensions (All Occasions catalog), Glue Dots (All Occasions catalog) and Stampin’ Blends.

Check back in a couple days for more Christmas inspiration from my page, and in the meantime, check out the other sites for more great ideas.
